Algeria to Open Energy Supply Stations in Mauritania Amid Deepening Bilateral Cooperation

Algerian energy distribution stations are set to open their doors in Mauritania in the coming weeks, marking a major milestone in the growing energy partnership between Algiers and Nouakchott.

The Mauritanian government’s official spokesperson, Al-Hussein Ould Mado, told dzwatch that this development reflects the advanced level of cooperation between the two neighboring countries in the energy sector, reaffirming Algeria’s role as a key regional energy partner.

Ould Mado noted that during the 20th session of the Mauritanian-Algerian Joint High Committee, Algeria expressed full readiness to meet Mauritanian demands for gas and energy products — a move that significantly bolsters energy security and opens new horizons for both nations.

This announcement comes as Mauritanian authorities confirmed a third fuel price hike in three months, driven by soaring global oil prices amid ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the war on Iran, further underlining the urgent need for stable Algerian energy supply.
