SelectUSA Summit: Algeria and US Explore Major Joint Investment Projects

Ways to develop joint Algerian-American projects were explored during a high-level meeting at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Maryland, where Kamal Moulay, President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, held talks with senior US officials.

On the sidelines of the summit — attended by nearly 5,000 economic stakeholders from 100 countries — Moulay met with US Deputy Director General of the Department of Commerce, Thomas Brouns, alongside the US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires in Algiers, Mark Shapiro.

Brouns told dzwatch of his satisfaction with Algeria’s participation, highlighting the strong partnership between the two nations and promising economic prospects ahead. He also proposed organizing an annual bilateral meeting to track project progress.

Moulay outlined Algeria’s sweeping economic transformation, particularly in industry, stressing that Algeria seeks high-technology projects and multi-sector partnerships with American counterparts.

The Algerian delegation also met representatives from several US states, including Mississippi’s governor’s team, discussing joint ventures in agriculture and energy.
