Iran’s Cyberattacks Against Israel See Unprecedented Surge

A senior Israeli security official has revealed a sharp and unprecedented escalation in cyberattacks attributed to Iran, targeting Israeli infrastructure and companies. This surge comes amid persistent regional tensions and the ongoing geopolitical rivalry involving Iran.

Iran cyberattacks Israel

According to a report by the German newspaper Die Welt, Yossi Karadi, Director-General of the Israeli National Cyber Directorate, stated that authorities recorded a significant jump in the number of digital incidents and breaches during June of this year. Karadi elaborated that official data indicates approximately 4,800 hostile cyber incidents were registered this June, a substantial increase compared to around 1,600 incidents observed in the same month of last year. This earlier period also saw heightened mutual military operations between the parties.

The significant rise in cyber warfare reflects a deepening digital front in the broader strategic competition between Iran and Israel, with critical infrastructure and corporate entities increasingly becoming targets. The Israeli National Cyber Directorate continues to monitor and respond to these evolving threats, emphasizing the persistent nature of the challenges in the cyber domain.
