Algerian Footballers Akram Bouras and Kaïl Boudache Advance in Champions League Qualifiers

Two Algerian footballers, Akram Bouras and Kaïl Boudache, have successfully navigated the third qualification round of the 2026-2027 UEFA Champions League, positioning their respective clubs on the brink of the prestigious group stage. This significant advancement highlights the talent of Algerian athletes on the European football stage as both players prepare for the decisive play-off matches.
Akram Bouras, representing Levski Sofia, saw his team secure their place in the final qualification round after two strong performances against Kaïrat Almaty. Levski Sofia earned identical 1-0 victories in both the away and home legs, confirming their qualification for the next phase. Despite Bouras being sidelined due to injury for these matches, his team demonstrated resilience, and they are now set to face AEK Athens in the critical play-off round.
Meanwhile, Kaïl Boudache and Olympique Lyonnais also clinched their spot in the play-offs following a notable comeback. After an initial 2-1 defeat in the first leg against Sparta Prague, Olympique Lyonnais delivered a commanding 3-0 victory at Groupama Stadium to overturn the deficit. Boudache notably featured in the second leg, coming on for the final fifteen minutes of the match, contributing to his team's successful qualification. Olympique Lyonnais will now prepare to challenge Fenerbahçe for a place in the Champions League group stage.
