Taranto 2026 Games to Host 248 Algerian Athletes
Algeria is set to participate in the Mediterranean Games "Taranto 2026" with a significant delegation comprising 248 athletes. This commitment to international sports will see Algerian competitors engaging in 27 distinct sporting disciplines, as confirmed by Abdel Rahmane Hammad, President of the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee, during a recent press conference.
The comprehensive Algerian contingent extends beyond the athletes, also including 77 officials and 10 referees who will contribute to the nation's representation at the event. These participants will represent Algeria across 22 sports federations, highlighting the breadth of national talent involved. The final list of athletes for the upcoming Games was officially closed on July 14.
Preparations for the delegation's travel and stay are underway, with plans for the Algerian team to journey to Italy via three separate flights. Upon arrival in Taranto, the delegation will be accommodated on two designated boats, ensuring a structured and organized presence for the duration of the Mediterranean Games.
