World Health Organization, Algeria Seal Health System Partnership

The Algerian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) officially signed a biennial budget cooperation program on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The strategic signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health's headquarters in Algiers, with Professor Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudene, Algeria's Minister of Health, and Dr. Fanuel Habimana, the WHO representative in Algeria, initialing the new roadmap for 2026-2027. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and sector executives were also present at the event.

This renewed partnership extends beyond financial cooperation, representing a restructuring of priorities aimed at the comprehensive consolidation of Algeria's medical infrastructure. According to official documents, the program focuses on the integrated prevention of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. A primary objective of the biennial program is the strengthening of Universal Health Coverage.
