Nigerien Meleck Crude Shipment Jointly Marketed by Sonatrach

Algeria's Sonatrach group, in cooperation with the National Oil Company of Niger (Sonidep), recently completed the loading and joint commercialization of the first shipment of Nigerien crude oil. The crude, known as “Meleck,” was loaded from the Sèmè oil terminal in Benin, marking a significant milestone in the energy sector. This operation represents the successful materialization of a new commercial collaboration between the two national energy entities.

This joint venture is part of broader efforts to strengthen commercial and economic partnership between Algeria and Niger, while also developing cooperation in the hydrocarbons sector. The initiative is a direct outcome of directives from the higher authorities in both countries, aiming to reinforce trade relations and open new opportunities for collaboration between Algerian and Nigerien institutions. It signifies a new dynamic in the bilateral relationship, demonstrating a commitment to fostering durable economic ties.

The successful commercialization reflects Sonatrach's ambitious strategy to expand its footprint and operational presence across the African continent. The Algerian company is leveraging its extensive experience and expertise in hydrocarbon marketing and management to support its African partners. This shared marketing of “Meleck” crude oil is poised to enhance regional energy cooperation, creating mutually beneficial investment opportunities and establishing sustainable economic partnerships that serve the common interests of both nations.
