African Development Bank Finances Key Algerian Railway Section

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers which approved the 2027 Finance Bill. This crucial bill incorporates presidential directives for wage increases as promised to Algerian citizens and explicitly excludes any new taxes that would affect the purchasing power of middle-class or limited-income individuals. The Council also reviewed and endorsed a financing agreement from the African Development Bank for a significant railway project, marking a key step in national development.
A core focus of the ministerial session was the accelerated development of Algeria's extensive railway infrastructure. President Tebboune ordered the immediate launch of the railway projects for the Laghouat – El Menea – In Salah – Tamanrasset sections, designating this initiative as a top priority for the public works sector. He underscored the urgency for a comprehensive acceleration of construction operations, emphasizing the need to complete the entire project by the end of 2028, thereby enabling Algerian citizens to travel by train from the North to the expansive Great South, reaching Tamanrasset.
