Algiers<\/strong> \u2013 On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Algeria<\/a>‘s Minister of State for Energy, Mining, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, will inaugurate a workshop dedicated to developing Algeria’s lithium industry. The event aims to craft a comprehensive roadmap for advancing the sector to ensure a promising future for national energy and economic growth. It will gather leading scientists and prominent Algerian experts, according to a statement from the ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will include key officials from the energy and mining sector, state secretaries for mining and renewable energies, and the CEOs of Sonatrach<\/a>, Sonarem, and Sonelgaz<\/a>. Leaders from sector agencies, representatives from official institutions, companies, research institutes, and investors will also attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop will focus on the strategic importance of lithium, often referred to as “white gold,” and explore Algeria’s potential in this field. This initiative aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision of diversifying the national economy<\/a> by harnessing the country’s strategic resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion will highlight Algeria’s significant lithium reserves, emphasizing the need for an integrated strategy to transform lithium into a driver of economic and industrial growth. This is particularly critical as Algeria seeks to develop renewable energy<\/a> sources and bolster its global standing in the energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distinguished Algerian experts such as Professor Karim Zaghib, an international authority on battery technologies, and Professor Kamal Youssef Toumi, a globally recognized inventor and researcher, will be among the participants. These experts, along with others, will share their insights and expertise to support Algeria’s national objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop provides a unique platform for enhancing local capabilities by fostering dialogue and exploring ways to leverage the expertise of Algerian professionals both domestically and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
