Algiers \u2013 Algerian Public Television organized a musical evening from its “TV Nights” series on Monday evening in Algiers, featuring prominent names in Algerian music, particularly in the Kabyle and Chaoui traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This second edition of “TV Nights,” hosted at the M\u2019Hamed Yazid Palace of Culture, featured performances by Ali Chebbani, known artistically as M\u2019Cinissa, in the Chaoui style, and S\u00e9lia L’Mahend and Masa Bouchaffa in the Kabyle tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
M\u2019Cinissa captivated the audience with renditions of classic Chaoui songs, blending traditional instruments like the “quasbah” and “bendir” with modern instruments. His performance included famous hits such as “Azul,” “Aquwar Lafqar,” and “Twiza,” showcasing his unique style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Kabyle tradition, S\u00e9lia L’Mahend delighted the crowd with a selection of her own songs, as well as classics by renowned Kabyle composers, honoring them through performances like “Ay Ya Zorzor” by Sherifa and “Thalut Ayam Dhil Omriu” by Loun\u00e8s A\u00eft Menguellet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Masa Bouchaffa, another renowned Kabyle singer, continued the evening with her soulful voice and melodies. She performed popular tracks such as “Tamghra,” “Ithber Sherg Inni,” and “Inas Inas,” which resonated strongly with the audience and received enthusiastic applause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement to the Algerian Press Service (APS), Mr. Qassem Dahmani, Director of Channel Four of Algerian Public Television, which broadcasts in Tamazight, emphasized that “TV Nights” is part of the television network’s programming for Ramadan 2025. He noted that these musical evenings, organized under the supervision of the Algerian Television Production Department, aim to “provide entertainment and reunite Algerian families” through a “rich and diverse cultural program.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Dahmani highlighted the importance of Tamazight, stating that it is “a symbol and a key component of Algerian identity, encompassing linguistic variations such as Kabyle, Chaoui, Targa, Zenata, and Shenawa.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The eight musical evenings will be broadcast across various channels of Algerian Public Television throughout the month of Ramadan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
