Algeria\u2019s Youth Minister and Supreme Youth Council representative, Mustafa Haidawi, will attend the “African Youth Leaders Summit” in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from April 3\u20135, according to a Wednesday ministry statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organized by the African Union under the theme \u201cUnleashing Youth Potential for a Prosperous Africa,\u201d the summit aims to \u201cboost youth engagement in peace and sustainable development efforts, strengthen African youth unity, and discuss key issues like diplomacy and their role in protecting African interests globally,\u201d the statement noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, expecting around 1,000 young participants, will feature a startup exhibition and diverse cultural activities. Haidawi will highlight Algeria\u2019s efforts in \u201cempowering and supporting youth, and developing policies to involve them in decision-making, thanks to the significant attention from Algeria\u2019s top authorities,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It pointed to Algeria\u2019s exemplary youth model, seen in \u201ccreating a dedicated youth ministry, establishing the Supreme Youth Council, amending electoral laws for greater youth representation in local and national councils, and launching a startups ministry while modernizing universities.\u201d Additional measures include \u201cpolicies and laws supporting youth rights, participation in decision-making, and initiatives across various fields.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Haidawi will also hold bilateral meetings with youth leaders from across Africa to \u201cenhance collaboration and share expertise among African youth councils, building on the November 2024 African Youth Forum in Oran,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
