Kampala – Hamma Salama, President of the Sahrawi National Council, commended the relations between his country and Uganda, highlighting the deep-rooted historical ties and shared vision for a free and prosperous Africa, according to a report by the Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his speech in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, at the conference of the Ugandan National Resistance Movement (NRM) on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Salama reviewed the historical connections between the Polisario Front and the NRM, as well as the broader context of African national liberation movements, in the shared struggle against all forms of colonialism on the continent, the same source noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this occasion, he stated: \u201cOur African leaders, past and present, such as Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, and President Yoweri Museveni, have consistently affirmed that Africa\u2019s liberation will not be complete until all its peoples, including the Sahrawi people, are liberated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that the Sahrawi people \u201ccontinue to rely on Uganda\u2019s well-known support, solidarity, and advocacy to fully realize the principles and objectives of the African Union, following the path of its founding fathers, and to complete the journey of liberating the African continent and decolonizing it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
