Algiers – On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the organizing committee of the Timimoun International Short Film Festival announced that it has received more than 2,700 submissions from filmmakers across Africa and the world to participate in the competition of the festival\u2019s inaugural edition, scheduled for November 13 to 18, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from the festival\u2019s organizing committee, this event, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, aims in its first edition to \u201cprovide a distinguished cinematic platform with a unique artistic character, originating from the heart of the Algerian Sahara and steadily reaching out to Africa and the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By focusing on African short films, the festival bets on a cinema that \u201ccombines proximity, awareness, and innovation,\u201d as per the same source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival\u2019s competition, open to African films, covers the categories of fiction, documentary, and animation.
