The initiative aims to <strong>strengthen national expertise and build institutional capacity in intellectual property (IP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Held under the theme <em>\u201cIntellectual Property and Modern Technologies\u201d<\/em>, the session was attended by senior officials including <strong>Samir Tha\u00e2labi<\/strong>, Director General of the National Office of Copyright and Related Rights (ONDA); <strong>Mohamed Othman Ahmed Ould Essalek<\/strong>, Head of WIPO\u2019s Algiers office; <strong>Abdelhafid Belmehdi<\/strong>, Director General of the Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI); along with several experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his opening remarks, Mr. Tha\u00e2labi emphasized that the program, running until <strong>October 2<\/strong>, is the <strong>fruit of a national strategy developed jointly by ONDA and INAPI with WIPO\u2019s support<\/strong>. He noted that more than 60 trainees have already benefited from the initiative, which paves the way for the establishment of an <strong>Algerian Academy of Intellectual Property<\/strong> \u2013 a project he described as a <em>\u201ccivilizational endeavor to protect and valorize Algerian creativity both nationally and internationally.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Belmehdi highlighted the importance of the initiative in advancing <strong>training, awareness, and capacity building in intellectual property<\/strong>, particularly in light of Algeria\u2019s drive to build a <strong>knowledge-based economy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For his part, Mr. Essalek underlined that this session is part of a broader WIPO program launched in 2010, through which the organization has supported <strong>over 30 member states<\/strong> in setting up <strong>national training centers in intellectual property<\/strong>. He praised Algeria\u2019s <strong>consistent support and active partnership with WIPO<\/strong>, describing this program as <em>\u201cone of the most important training projects in Algeria in the field of intellectual property.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also speaking at the opening, WIPO\u2019s training program officer <strong>Daniela Lizazaburo<\/strong> stressed that the conclusion of this cycle represents <em>\u201ca crucial step towards the establishment of Algeria\u2019s National Academy of Intellectual Property\u201d<\/em>.
