Algiers \u2013 Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, highlighted on Tuesday the strategic role played by the National Fund for Paid Leave and Weather-Unemployment in the sectors of construction, public works, and hydraulics (CACOBAT), stressing its importance in backing the national economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chairing a working session, part of a series of ongoing coordination meetings with institutions under his ministry, Saihi underlined the fund\u2019s crucial contribution to \u201csupporting the national economy and strengthening social protection for workers in these vital sectors,\u201d according to a ministry statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting focused on \u201cevaluating management mechanisms, identifying challenges and obstacles that may hinder effective public service performance, with the aim of improving the quality of services provided to citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the session, the minister listened to a detailed presentation by CACOBAT\u2019s Director General, which covered the fund\u2019s missions, ongoing activities, as well as administrative and technical challenges it faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the presentation, Saihi issued firm instructions to \u201credouble efforts in improving efficiency and the quality of services, with an emphasis on accelerating digitalization of operations and services.\u201d He stressed that modernizing the fund\u2019s work would bring the administration closer to citizens, streamline procedures, and spare workers unnecessary travel, in conformity with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune\u2019s directives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister also underlined \u201cthe importance of rationalizing expenditures and directing them towards enhancing public service delivery to ensure workers fully benefit from their rights related to weather-related leave insurance.\u201d He insisted on the necessity of quick and effective responses to the needs and expectations of beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this regard, Saihi called for studying the possibility of broadening the scope of social coverage provided by the fund to include groups not currently benefiting from this protection. This expansion, he stated, reflects Algeria\u2019s deeply rooted social dimension and the state\u2019s commitment to safeguarding the dignity of all workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
