Gaza \u2013 The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Friday that it had delivered its official response to mediators regarding U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s proposal aimed at halting the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the movement explained that it had conducted extensive consultations to reach what it described as a \u201cresponsible position\u201d in dealing with the American plan, emphasizing its commitment to ending the relentless Israeli attacks on Gaza that began on October 7, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamas expressed appreciation for the \u201cArab, Islamic, and international efforts calling for an immediate end to the war on Gaza, the exchange of prisoners, the swift entry of humanitarian aid, and the categorical rejection of both the occupation of the Strip and any attempt to forcibly displace the Palestinian people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The movement added, \u201cWe announce our agreement to release all captives\u2014both living and deceased\u2014according to the exchange formula included in President Trump\u2019s proposal, provided that the necessary field conditions for the exchange process are ensured.\u201d It also confirmed its readiness to immediately engage, through mediators, in negotiations to discuss the details of the exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reiterating its openness to political solutions, Hamas reaffirmed its approval of managing the Gaza Strip through a Palestinian body composed of independent technocrats\u2014based on national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement concluded by stressing that \u201cother issues mentioned in President Trump\u2019s proposal concerning the future of Gaza and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people are matters to be discussed within a unified national framework.\u201d Hamas affirmed that it will be part of this collective Palestinian process and contribute to it responsibly, consistent with international law and relevant UN resolutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
