Algiers<\/strong> – The World Bank has expressed its willingness to support Algeria’s ambitious energy projects, particularly in the realm of renewable energy and green hydrogen, during a recent high-level meeting.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjjal, received a delegation from the World Bank’s Board of Directors, representing seventy countries, at the ministry’s headquarters. The visit focused on strengthening cooperation and expanding partnership opportunities within the energy sector.<\/p>\n

The meeting, which included a representative from the Ministry of Finance and senior officials, provided a platform for exchanging views on the future of investment in renewable energies and identifying practical areas of collaboration. <\/p>\n

Minister Adjjal emphasized Algeria’s commitment to a genuine energy transition, highlighting significant investments in projects aimed at producing 15,000 megawatts of renewable energy by 2035. He noted the progress of the initial phase, a 3,200-megawatt solar photovoltaic project, slated for operation in 2026, positioning Algeria as a regional leader in clean electricity generation.<\/p>\n

The Minister also unveiled strategic projects designed to enhance Algeria’s international presence, including a subsea power cable linking Algeria and Italy, facilitating electricity exports to Europe. Furthermore, he mentioned the energy interconnection project between North and Sub-Saharan Africa, fostering cooperation with African nations and unlocking promising economic prospects.<\/p>\n

Adjjal affirmed that Algeria has established a robust energy base, making it a reliable producer of sustainable and secure energy. The next objective, he stated, is to export electricity and clean energy to international markets.<\/p>\n

The Minister expressed Algeria’s desire to broaden cooperation with the World Bank, involving the institution in studying and financing large-scale energy projects, particularly those related to green hydrogen, solar energy, and electrical interconnection.<\/em><\/p>\n
