Algiers, November 11, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Algeria and Somalia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, following a high-level meeting between the two nations’ leaders. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized the shared desire to deepen ties and exchange perspectives on matters of mutual interest during a joint press statement held on the sidelines of the Somali President’s official visit to Algeria.<\/p>\n

President Tebboune highlighted the potential for collaboration in key areas, including energy, agriculture, fisheries, pharmaceutical industries, and higher education<\/em>. He noted a significant step forward in educational cooperation, announcing that Algeria will welcome 110 Somali students for the 2026-2027 academic year. <\/p>\n

“We are committed to building upon this initiative by offering additional scholarships in vocational training, law enforcement, and defense,” President Tebboune stated. He added that discussions also encompassed a wide range of issues, facilitating an exchange of views on Arab and African affairs.<\/p>\n

The leaders reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, reaffirming their commitment to the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.<\/p>\n

Discussions also addressed the situation in Libya, emphasizing the importance of a Libyan-led political solution achieved through elections that preserve the country’s unity and put an end to foreign interference in its internal affairs.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, President Tebboune highlighted concerns regarding the situations in the Sahel-Sahara region and Sudan, condemning foreign interventions that undermine stability and disregard the principles of solidarity and cooperation within the Arab and African regions. <\/p>\n

“We are deeply satisfied with the outcome of these consultations and look forward to enhanced cooperation and partnership for the benefit of our two brotherly nations,” President Tebboune concluded.<\/p>\n
