Algiers, November 13, 2025<\/strong> – Minister of Interior, Local Authorities<\/a>, and Transport, Said Sayoud, has announced significant developments in Algeria’s domestic air travel and public transportation sectors.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a parliamentary session, Minister Sayoud revealed the addition of over 100 weekly domestic flights, creating more than 15,000 new seats. He emphasized that a significant portion of these new routes will serve the southern regions<\/a> of the country.<\/p>\n

“The process of adjusting the flight schedule is ongoing,” the Minister stated, adding that the arrival of new aircraft will alleviate current capacity constraints.<\/p>\n

Minister Sayoud also highlighted the progress made in the digitalization of the transportation sector, in line with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives. “The sector has adopted a comprehensive digitalization plan encompassing all affiliated institutions and services for citizens,” he explained.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the Minister announced the planned implementation of a unified, multi-modal transportation ticket in 2026. This pilot program will initially launch in Algiers before being gradually extended to other regions of the country.<\/em> The Ministry is actively working to adapt to and implement modern technologies in coordination with the High Commission for Digitalization, referencing the various platforms and applications already launched by public transport<\/a> institutions.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Minister Sayoud indicated that Air Alg\u00e9rie<\/a> is poised for a “qualitative leap” in service, particularly following the acquisition of 16 new aircraft and the establishment of a dedicated domestic airline. This initiative aims to facilitate travel between different parts of the country, with a focus on the southern regions, supporting tourism, and enhancing the flexibility of air transport services.<\/p>\n
