Algiers, Algeria<\/strong> \u2013 Algeria has reiterated its unwavering support for a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political solution to the ongoing crisis in the neighboring nation. This reaffirmation came during a meeting between Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hana Teteh.<\/p>\n

The meeting, held earlier today, focused on the latest developments in the Libyan political process and ongoing efforts to advance the settlement towards a decisive stage. Discussions provided an opportunity for both parties to review the current political and security landscape in Libya, particularly in light of the UN-led efforts to break the existing deadlock.<\/p>\n

Ms. Teteh presented a detailed overview of the UN roadmap submitted to the Security Council on August 21, 2025. This roadmap is built upon three fundamental pillars: preparing the legal framework for elections, unifying executive institutions, and launching an inclusive national dialogue to pave the way for presidential and legislative elections.<\/p>\n

Minister Attaf emphasized Algeria’s steadfast position in supporting a peaceful, Libyan-Libyan solution, asserting that organizing elections remains the only viable path to ending the crisis and restoring Libya’s unity and stability. He also reiterated Algeria’s rejection of any foreign interference that could further complicate the situation or undermine Libyan sovereignty.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Minister briefed the UN official on the outcomes of the consultative ministerial meeting of the Tripartite Mechanism of Libya’s Neighboring Countries, held in Algiers on November 6, 2025. He affirmed that neighboring countries are continuing to work in a coordinated manner to support all efforts aimed at assisting Libyans towards a comprehensive and lasting solution.<\/p>\n

Diplomatic sources indicate that this meeting reflects Algeria’s continued pivotal role in supporting Libya towards stability, in coordination with the United Nations and neighboring countries, at what is considered the most sensitive stage in years.<\/em> Algeria sees stability in Libya as vital for regional security.<\/p>\n
