Air Alg\u00e9rie is poised to revolutionize its fleet with the introduction of new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. The first delivery is expected before the end of the year, marking a significant step in the airline’s ambitious modernization and expansion strategy spanning from 2026 to 2036.<\/p>\n
According to Air Alg\u00e9rie’s CEO, Hamza Benhamouda, the acquisition of each aircraft represents an investment exceeding $150 million. He emphasized that the A330-900neo is one of Airbus’s most advanced models, boasting cutting-edge technology, high payload capacity, and full international certification from global aviation authorities.<\/p>\n
Mr. Benhamouda further revealed that Air Alg\u00e9rie anticipates receiving two to three additional aircraft of the same model in December. This is part of a larger deal encompassing ten A330-900neo aircraft, positioning Algeria as the first African nation to possess such a substantial fleet of the latest generation wide-body Airbus planes.<\/p>\n
The A330neo aircraft are strategically significant due to their enhanced fuel efficiency, consuming 25% less fuel thanks to their advanced Rolls-Royce engines. This reduction in fuel consumption also translates to lower emissions, aligning with Algeria’s commitment to environmentally friendly aviation practices. The aircraft features a three-class cabin configuration with a total capacity of 308 seats, alongside improvements in lighting, comfort, and overall space.<\/p>\n
Hadi Akoum, Vice President of Sales at Airbus, stated that the integration of this aircraft model into the Air Alg\u00e9rie fleet strengthens Algeria’s position as an African hub for air transport, training, and maintenance. He also commended the notable advancements in the airline’s technical infrastructure. <\/p>\n
Looking ahead, the airline anticipates the arrival of the first ATR aircraft, out of a total of 16, in June 2026, further bolstering its domestic flight capabilities. The additional ATR aircraft will follow soon after.<\/p>\n
