Caracas \u2013 Venezuelan authorities are reportedly undertaking a mass mobilization in response to perceived threats from the United States, as President Nicolas Maduro warns against the potential for a “new Gaza” in South America and vows to confront what he describes as a “colonial approach.” <\/p>\n
According to reports, local authorities are overseeing the mobilization, with supporters of President Maduro participating in gatherings aimed at bolstering so-called “units of forces and popular bases of volunteers.” <\/p>\n
President Maduro has called on the American people to halt what he termed the “hand that orders bombing and killing.” During a conference of international legal experts in Caracas, he questioned whether the international community wished to witness another Gaza-like situation in South America.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the Venezuelan president denounced upcoming joint military exercises between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago as “irresponsible,” citing Washington’s increased military presence in the Caribbean. <\/p>\n
“The government of Trinidad and Tobago has announced irresponsible maneuvers, lending its waters off the coast of Sucre state for military exercises aimed at threatening a republic like Venezuela, which will not allow anyone to threaten it,” Maduro stated.<\/p>\n
Maduro urged his supporters in eastern states to stage “protests and continuous marches in the streets” during the scheduled exercises, which are expected to last until November 21st. This marks the second joint training exercise between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago in less than a month.<\/p>\n
Caracas believes that the U.S. military activity in the Caribbean \u2013 which Washington claims is aimed at combating drug cartels \u2013 is merely a cover for efforts to oust President Maduro.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, reports suggest that U.S. forces are preparing for potential orders to launch attacks on Venezuela. Discussions are reportedly underway regarding whether to authorize such action.<\/p>\n
