He called on the United Nations to do its duty in the face of &#8220;attempts to create legitimacy out of illegality&#8221; by preserving the credibility of its decisions, and reiterated Algeria&#8217;s support for international efforts to initiate direct negotiations between the two parties to the conflict in order to organize a referendum that would allow for the self-determination of the Sahrawi people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?p=65951\">President Tebboune<\/a> also renewed Algeria&#8217;s firm position in supporting just causes and oppressed peoples struggling for liberation, especially the <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?cat=48\">Palestinian<\/a> and Sahrawi issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In his speech to the 78th United Nations General Assembly, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed Algeria&#8216;s aspiration to reach a final liquidation of the phenomenon of colonialism from the last African colony, Western Sahara.
