Algiers, December 2nd, 2025<\/strong> – A Spanish delegation from the Port of Castell\u00f3n has lauded the professionalism and efficiency of the Port of Algiers following a field visit aimed at exploring new partnership opportunities and strengthening cooperation between the two entities.<\/p>\n

The delegation was received at the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, where Abdelhamid Boualam, Director-General of the Port of Algiers, welcomed the Spanish representatives. He emphasized Algeria’s commitment to developing maritime partnerships with Spain.<\/p>\n

“We welcome our Spanish friends and value the partnership between our countries, which we are committed to developing further in the port sector,” stated Mr. Boualam.<\/p>\n

The Director-General of the Port of Castell\u00f3n, located north of Valencia in eastern Spain, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. He affirmed his organization’s desire to collaborate with the Port of Algiers, describing it as “a significant player in Mediterranean maritime trade.”<\/p>\n

The visiting delegation attended a presentation titled “The Port of Algiers Serving the National Economy,” which showcased the port’s history, activities, and logistical capabilities. The Director-General provided a detailed overview of vessel and cargo handling services, emphasizing the port’s 24\/7 operation with professionalism and discipline.<\/p>\n

Open discussions between the representatives allowed the Spanish delegation to learn about the Port of Algiers’ capabilities in receiving, loading, and unloading ships, as well as its advanced equipment. The Director-General presented data highlighting progress in infrastructure development, modernization of logistics equipment, and digitalization efforts.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the average vessel turnaround time at the port has been reduced to just two days, thanks to a continuous work system implemented since March 2025. He also noted a significant increase in demand for the port’s services, with traffic growing by 45 percent this year compared to last year. Furthermore, no vessels have been diverted to other ports due to congestion in the last six months.<\/p>\n

The port has reclaimed an additional 22,000 square meters of space by removing old warehouses and renovating quays. It has also established a controlled customs clearance area outside the port perimeter. This expansion and efficiency boost demonstrate the Port of Algiers’ commitment to providing world-class service.<\/em><\/p>\n
