Despite FIFA’s initial announcement mandating the release of players by December 8th, European clubs have reportedly resisted, leading to a potential shift in FIFA’s stance.<\/p>\n

This development could impact Algeria’s preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Initial plans for two friendly matches may now be reduced to one before the team travels to Morocco for the tournament.<\/p>\n

According to reports, FIFA has informed European clubs, particularly in England, that they can retain their players until December 15th, just a week before the competition commences. This is due to the demanding schedule of English clubs, who face four matches during that period, making it difficult to release key players.<\/p>\n

The pressure from European clubs has seemingly influenced FIFA’s revised position. Even if the original deadline remained, clubs with a significant number of international players were unlikely to release them prematurely.<\/p>\n

Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly contacted representatives of the Algerian national team, potentially including FA President Walid Sadi and Coach Vladimir Petkovic.<\/em> Guardiola requested that Rayan Ait-Nouri’s arrival to the training camp be delayed, not just until December 15th, but until December 17th.<\/p>\n

Guardiola emphasized Ait-Nouri’s importance to his squad, highlighting four crucial matches within a ten-day span, including a Champions League clash against Real Madrid on December 10th and a League Cup tie against Brentford on December 17th. Accepting Guardiola’s request would mean Ait-Nouri joining the Algerian squad on December 18th, just three days before the start of the CAN.<\/p>\n

While Algeria’s response remains unclear, it is anticipated that Petkovic may agree to the request. Ait-Nouri’s participation in at least two of Manchester City’s matches would ultimately benefit the national team. <\/p>\n
