Algiers, December 5, 2025<\/strong> – The Algerian consumer protection organization, ‘Himayatek,’ has announced a boycott of a forthcoming group meeting with the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, citing concerns over unequal treatment.<\/p>\n

The organization released a statement expressing its dissatisfaction, alleging a lack of fairness by the Ministry towards various consumer protection associations. Himayatek’s grievance stems from a prior individual meeting held between the Minister, Amel Abdelatif, and the ‘A Bous’ consumer protection association, represented by its president, Mustapha Zebdi, on November 22nd. This contrasts with the invitation extended to Himayatek to attend a collective meeting scheduled for December 9th, involving several national associations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis situation is perplexing,\u201d the statement read, highlighting that Himayatek had previously submitted a formal request for a private audience with the Minister to discuss consumer concerns and propose practical solutions to address issues impacting purchasing power.<\/p>\n

Consequently, Himayatek, led by its president, Mohammed Aissaoui, has declared a boycott of the group meeting scheduled for next Tuesday. The boycott will remain in effect until the Ministry adopts a fair, transparent, and equitable approach in its dealings with all associations, without exception.<\/p>\n

Himayatek<\/em> emphasized its respect for all organizations active in the field of consumer protection. The organization asserted that equal treatment among associations is a fundamental principle enshrined in laws and regulations, enabling all stakeholders to raise citizen concerns and contribute to safeguarding their rights.<\/p>\n

The statement concluded by reaffirming Himayatek’s commitment to diligently and responsibly fulfilling its mission to serve consumers and defend their rights and interests.<\/p>\n
