Doha, Qatar<\/strong> \u2013 The Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding celebrated its 11th edition, announcing the 2025 winners at a ceremony held Tuesday evening in Doha. Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al Thani presented the awards on behalf of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.<\/p>\n

In the category of translation from German to Arabic, Mohamed Ahmed Abu Zeid secured second place for his translation of Gustav Dalman’s ‘Work, Customs, and Traditions in Palestine’<\/em>. Omar Elghoul shared the second-place honor for his translation of Gustav Dalman’s ‘Jerusalem and its Natural Surroundings.’<\/em> Haroun Ahmed Suleiman Ahmed won third place for his translation of Wolfram Eilenberger’s ‘The Magicians’ Age: The Golden Decade of Philosophy 1919-1929.’<\/em><\/p>\n

For translation from Arabic to German, Larissa Bender claimed first place for her translation of Mustafa Khalifa’s ‘The Shell: Memoirs of a Hidden Observer.’<\/em><\/p>\n

In the Turkish to Arabic translation category, Mohamed Abdel-Aati Mohamed earned second place for translating \u015einasi Altunda\u011f’s ‘The Revolt of Muhammad Ali Pasha: The Egyptian Question 1831-1841.’<\/em> Abdul Razzaq Muhammad Hassan Barakat received third place for his translation of Hilmi Ziya \u00dclken’s ‘History of Contemporary Turkish Thought.’<\/em><\/p>\n

Achievement Category Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n

The category of Arabic to Turkish translation saw Dawud \u0130ltas awarded first place for his translation of Mulla Khusraw’s ‘Mirrors of the Fundamentals in Explaining the Ascent.’<\/em> Mehmet Yosua \u00d6zmen also secured first place for translating Bashir Musa Nafi’s ‘Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jama’a: An Essay on Origins and Emergence.’<\/em> Elif Ba\u011fa won second place for translating Shihab al-Din Ibn al-Haim al-Maqdisi’s ‘Al-Mumti’ fi Sharh al-Muqni’.’<\/em> Cahit \u015eenel shared second place for translating Ibn Rushd’s ‘Jami’ al-Sama’ al-Tabi’i.’<\/em> Mustafa \u0130smail D\u00f6nmez received third place for translating Ibrahim Nasrallah’s ‘Time of White Horses.’<\/em><\/p>\n

In the category of translation from Arabic to English, Hamada Hassanin and Yans Scheiner were awarded third place.<\/p>\n
