A representative from the US mission to the UN stated that the United States is prepared for formal discussions with Iran, “provided they are prepared for direct and meaningful dialogue.”<\/em> The representative further emphasized a core US principle: “There must be no uranium enrichment within Iran.”<\/em><\/p>\n In response, Iran’s envoy to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, asserted Iran’s consistent commitment to diplomacy and negotiation. He stated that Iran is prepared to provide peaceful guarantees regarding its nuclear program, urging Western nations to pursue a path of cooperation and acknowledge Iran’s rights under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.<\/p>\n These developments unfold amidst heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington. Indirect negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program, which commenced in April under Omani mediation, collapsed following a reported Israeli strike on Iran in June. The reported 12-day operation allegedly targeted nuclear sites, with reported US involvement in striking three of them.<\/p>\n Previously, the US military, under what it termed “Operation Midnight Hammer,” reportedly targeted Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22nd. The reported operation involved over 100 aircraft, submarines, and seven B-2 bombers.
