Algiers, Algeria – December 27, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 In a public statement broadcast on Canal Alg\u00e9rie, Aghur Mehenni, son of Farhat Mehenni, the leader of the separatist \u201cMAK\u201d movement, has publicly disavowed his father’s ideology and actions. Aghur Mehenni expressed his desire to protect his family’s honor from the perceived damage caused by his father’s separatist activities, emphasizing his commitment to Algerian national unity.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy father has his ideas, and I have mine,\u201d Aghur Mehenni stated. \u201cThroughout my life, his ideas and actions have had an impact on my life and the lives of my siblings.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further added, \u201cThe time has come for me to declare my independence from my father’s ideas, to express my own opinion, and to free myself from his decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aghur Mehenni also affirmed his sense of belonging in Algeria. \u201cIn Algeria, I truly feel that I am in my country. My mother often told me about the sacrifices of my grandfathers and grandmothers and their struggle during the Algerian War of Liberation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
