Ali Shaath, the newly appointed head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, has signed the committee’s mission statement, marking his first official act in the role. The signing took place on Sunday and outlines the committee’s core principles and areas of responsibility.<\/p>\n
Shaath announced the signing on social media, stating that the mission statement affirms the committee’s mandate and clarifies its operational framework. He emphasized the committee’s commitment to transforming the transitional phase in the Gaza Strip into a foundation for sustainable Palestinian prosperity.<\/p>\n
This commitment, according to Shaath, is based on the authority granted to the committee by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and the 20-point peace plan previously announced. The resolution, adopted in November 2025, endorsed a plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.<\/p>\n
Shaath stressed that the committee’s mission extends beyond simply rebuilding infrastructure. He stated that it includes revitalizing the social fabric of Gaza and restoring hope for the future. This will be overseen by a peace council and supported by a representative. He added that the committee is dedicated to establishing security and restoring essential services, such as electricity, water, healthcare, and education, which are fundamental to human dignity.<\/p>\n
The committee also aims to foster a society based on the values of peace, democracy, and the rule of law.<\/em><\/p>\n Shaath further explained that the committee, adhering to standards of integrity and transparency, will work towards building a sustainable and productive economy. This economy, he said, will be capable of transforming challenges into opportunities and replacing unemployment with meaningful jobs that ensure a decent life for all.<\/p>\n “Peace is the only way to guarantee legitimate Palestinian rights,”<\/strong> Shaath asserted, “paving the path towards self-determination and building a future based on justice and stability.”<\/strong><\/p>\n The committee officially commenced its work from Cairo, Egypt, with plans to relocate to the Gaza Strip to begin implementing an emergency relief plan for the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n
