The Territorial Brigade of the National Gendarmerie in El Hamiz, Dar El Be\u00efda battalion, in Algiers, has dismantled a criminal network specializing in car theft.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the National Gendarmerie, the operation followed the circulation of a video on social media showing an individual stealing a car from a residential garage in the El Hamiz neighborhood, dragging the owner who was clinging to the front door window.<\/p>\n
The statement added that by utilizing the video footage, brigade members launched an investigation to identify the suspects and their location. Following a well-coordinated security plan and in coordination with the competent public prosecutor, the team traveled to a neighboring province, where two individuals were arrested and the stolen vehicle was recovered in a short period.<\/p>\n
Upon completion of all legal procedures, the suspects will be presented before the competent judicial authorities for the misdemeanor of forming a criminal gang, the felony of motor vehicle theft using violence and threats, the misdemeanor of trespassing, and the misdemeanor of concealing stolen items.<\/p>\n
