Members of the Search and Intervention Squad of the El Oued Provincial Security dismantled a criminal group this week specialized in the unauthorized manufacturing of traditional rifles and pistols and the filling of black gunpowder.<\/p>\n
According to a National Security statement, the operation followed the precise exploitation of intelligence, which led investigators to a secret workshop for the manufacture and repair of traditional firearms in one of the municipalities of El Oued province.<\/p>\n
The owner of the workshop, who used his family home as a front to conceal his activities, was arrested. A second suspect involved in the illegal trade of traditional weapons was also apprehended.<\/p>\n
The operation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecution, resulted in the seizure of 10 category-five firearms (hunting rifles and handguns), seven traditional “Karabela” rifles, and an air rifle. Additionally, authorities recovered 1,678,000 Algerian dinars and various amounts of foreign currency.<\/p>\n
