The film, which highlights the sacrifices and struggles of nurses during the National Liberation War, was attended by a large audience. Produced by Taida Film with support from the Ministry of Culture and Arts, the 76-minute film honors the hero-nurses who often operated in secret during the Liberation Revolution (1954-1962).

Featuring a cast including Hamid Mesbah, Louisa Nahar, and Hamza Hamoudi, the film tells the story of the main character “Hadda,” portrayed by Lydia Larini. The screenplay, written by Hayat Younsi, is inspired by the memoirs “Six Years of Struggle” (1956-1962), based on the testimony of Yamina Cherrad Ben Nacer, one of the survivors from the first group of nurses to join the struggle.

The events of the film, shot in the heart of the Constantine and Skikda mountains, follow Hadda as she chooses to live in an abandoned hut converted into a shelter to treat wounded Mujahideen. In addition to providing necessary medical care, Hadda trained a group of women in first aid and served as a link between the villages and the resistance fronts.

Driven by their dual commitment to the national cause and humanitarian duty, the nurses conducted their work in complete secrecy, which was essential for the success of their mission and the safety of both the medical staff and the wounded.

The director stated that “Hadda,” his first feature film, adopts an artistic and entertaining approach that uses cinema to narrate significant events in Algerian history through a fictionalized historical narrative brought to life by talented actors.

The film, which received public acclaim and won an award at the 12th Algiers International Film Festival (December 4-10, 2025), is scheduled for release in Algerian cinemas starting April 10.

Following the screening, Nassira Ayaichia, Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Culture and Arts, honored 90-year-old Mujahida Yamina Cherrad Ben Nacer on behalf of the Minister of Culture and Arts. Ben Nacer, who attended the screening, is the subject of the film which chronicles her journey as a nurse during the Liberation Revolution.

The Ibn Zaydoun Hall in Algiers hosted on Saturday evening the honorary screening of the revolutionary film “Hadda” by director Ahmed Riad.
