The Agriculture Minister praised the sector’s remarkable progress, noting that Algeria has successfully eliminated tomato imports \u2014 particularly industrial tomatoes \u2014 thanks to sustained state support and producers’ accumulated expertise.<\/p>\n
The Trade Minister told dzwatch that the tomato sector is strategic and must be strengthened through tighter market regulation, improved distribution mechanisms, and crackdowns on illegal practices threatening price stability.<\/p>\n
Key measures announced include a new executive decree to streamline farmer card access, promotion of agricultural cooperatives, local hybrid seed production to cut costs, and dedicated agro-industrial zones managed by the National Investment Promotion Agency.
