Algeria’s Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Microenterprises, Noureddine Waadh, spotlighted Algeria’s bold innovation agenda on Tuesday in Geneva, addressing the 29th session of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development.<\/p>\n
Speaking exclusively to dzwatch, Waadh highlighted the landmark creation of a dedicated Ministry for Knowledge Economy and Startups in 2020, reflecting Algeria’s firm state commitment to building a dynamic national innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n
The minister also underscored Algeria’s annual African Startup Conference, launched in 2022, designed to foster continental cooperation and accelerate an integrated African innovation market.<\/p>\n
“Africa remains behind in innovation,” Waadh told dzwatch, stressing the urgent need to increase R&D funding across the continent and strengthen coordinated public policies to create greater opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
