The Algerian Embassy in France has issued a strong condemnation of what it described as a “vile aggression” targeting Algerian exhibitors at the Algerian pavilion inside UNESCO headquarters during the Africa Week 2026 events.<\/p>\n
In an exclusive statement to dzwatch, the Embassy reaffirmed its “unwavering and unconditional support for Algerian exhibitors engaged in preserving and promoting Algeria’s rich national heritage, within the values of sharing, dialogue, and tolerance championed by UNESCO.”<\/p>\n
As attacks and provocations against Algerian participants escalated, the Embassy vowed to “take all necessary measures to protect its citizens and ensure that perpetrators of these unjustifiable and unacceptable acts \u2014 along with those behind them \u2014 do not escape justice.”<\/p>\n
A widely circulated video showed Algerian pavilion exhibitors subjected to physical assaults and provocations, while a person speaking in a Moroccan dialect was heard issuing threats to a woman who was documenting the incident \u2014 sparking widespread outrage online.
