The meeting, themed &quot;Partnership for Common Responses to Global Challenges,&quot; brought together representatives from 50 African nations, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n<h2>South Korea Africa cooperation<\/h2>\n<p>South Korean Foreign Minister, Cho Hyun, emphasized the significance of the gathering in his opening address, stating, &quot;We are meeting today at a critical juncture witnessing rapid transformations in the global order.&quot; He highlighted the multifaceted challenges facing the world, including disruptions in supply chains, energy security, and food security.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Cho further underscored the growing geopolitical and economic importance of African nations on the global stage, particularly amidst the ongoing instability in the Middle East and the ambiguity surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. &quot;Therefore, strengthening cooperation between Korea and Africa has become more important than ever,&quot; he asserted.<\/p>\n<p>Representing the African continent, Ghana&#39;s Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who serves as the current Vice President of the African Union, called for robust partnerships that move beyond traditional models towards transformative economic cooperation. He commended South Korea&#39;s commitment to the meeting, noting its continuation despite concerns over the Ebola outbreak in some African countries, thereby demonstrating that &quot;South Korea will not stigmatize or stereotype Africa.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The Algerian delegation, led by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, attended the meeting under a mandate from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. During the plenary session, co-chaired by Ministers Cho and Ablakwa, participants deliberated on enhancing economic cooperation, focusing on trade and investment, science and technology, and resilient supply chains. Discussions also extended to expanding practical cooperation in areas such as climate change, health, peace and security, development aid, and people-to-people exchanges, according to the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The summit is expected to conclude with a joint statement outlining measures to bolster practical cooperation for mutual prosperity and strengthen solidarity in confronting global challenges, including supply chain disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>On the sidelines of the main meeting, Minister Cho is scheduled to hold separate bilateral talks with the foreign ministers of participating countries to discuss issues of mutual interest.
