Algeria's Independent National Election Authority (ANIE) has announced the preliminary results from the review of collective candidacy applications for the upcoming legislative elections, scheduled for July 2, 2026. This announcement provides a snapshot of the electoral process and the candidates vying for seats in the National People's Assembly.<\/p>\n
According to \u0627\u0644\u0628\u064a\u0627\u0646 \u0631\u0642\u0645 26, issued by ANIE, the process adheres to the Presidential Decree No. 26-145 and the Organic Law No. 21-01 concerning the electoral system. The review covers both domestic and international candidacies.<\/p>\n
Domestically, ANIE processed 788 collective candidacy applications, encompassing a total of 10,168 candidates. Out of these, 77 lists have been accepted, while 31 lists were rejected. The primary reason for rejection was the failure to meet the legally required number of individual signature endorsements, as stipulated in Article 202. A significant number of applications, 680 lists, are currently under review pending the outcome of appeals. Accepted candidates within the country amount to 6,994, representing 70% of the total applicants, with 3,174 candidates (30%) being rejected.<\/p>\n
Internationally, 66 collective candidacy applications were processed, involving 528 candidates. Ten lists have been approved, and another ten have been rejected. A further 46 international lists are awaiting the resolution of appeals. Of the international candidates, 364 have been accepted, constituting 70% of the total, while 164 candidates (30%) have been rejected.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, 100 appeals have been registered at the Administrative Court in Algiers. The ANIE also reminded all political parties and independent lists that the deadline for submitting new candidacies is Saturday, June 6, 2026, at midnight.<\/p>\n
