This strategic move follows a high-level meeting between Algeria's Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and Niger's Minister of Petroleum, Hamadou Tini, held recently in Algiers. The discussions underscored the profound strategic importance of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, a cornerstone of regional energy aspirations.<\/p>\n
The extensive talks focused on evaluating the current state and future prospects of hydrocarbon collaboration between the two nations. A key agenda item was strengthening the existing partnership between Algeria's national oil company, Sonatrach, and its Nigerien counterpart, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nig\u00e9rienne des Produits P\u00e9troliers (SONIDEP). This collaboration is poised for expansion into critical areas including exploration, appraisal, and the development and production of hydrocarbons.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the ministers explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in essential services such as drilling, refining, and petrochemicals. Enhancing the distribution and marketing of petroleum products, alongside robust programs for training, technology transfer, and capacity building, were also central to the discussions.<\/p>\n
According to insights gathered by DZWatch, the meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing joint projects and charted a course for extending cooperation into new, value-added ventures.
