The first consultative meeting held recently in Tunisia between the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Tunisian President<\/a>, Kais Saied, and the Libyan Presidential Council’s head, Mohamed Younes Menfi, was described as “successful” and not merely a “response to specific circumstances” nor an alternative to the Arab Maghreb Union, stated Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a press meeting in Algiers, Minister Attaf emphasized that this trilateral summit was not aimed against any party and that the Arab Maghreb Union remains a “historic project and goal.” He highlighted the open door policy for consultations if there is the will and intention politically. He also pointed out the long-standing thought of President Tebboune about this initiative, discussing it during various visits by leaders and foreign ministers from the Maghreb region to Algeria<\/a>. Addressing the situation in the Sahel, Minister Attaf remarked on Algeria’s proactive role in ensuring the stability of the region, despite the complexities of political and economic conditions. He reiterated Algeria’s commitment to seeking a political solution to conflicts in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, consistent with Algeria’s diplomatic advocacy for peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, Minister Attaf confirmed Algeria’s ongoing efforts in the United Nations<\/a> Security Council, including the successful passage of a resolution on a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating humanitarian aid. He underscored Algeria’s ambition to secure full UN membership for Palestine<\/a>, reflecting the strategic directives of President Tebboune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
