The National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE) has issued a directive to candidates participating in the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for July 2nd. The authority urges all candidates to strictly adhere to the prescribed procedures and formatting guidelines for the display of their candidacies.<\/p>\n
This reminder comes in response to observed irregularities in the display of candidacy information, both within Algeria and abroad. The ANIE emphasized the critical importance of publishing complete candidate lists without exception and ensuring that each candidate includes a photograph. This measure is designed to uphold the principles of fairness and equal opportunity among candidates on the same list, as well as between different electoral lists.<\/p>\n
In its statement, the ANIE warned that any failure to comply with these procedures will subject the offenders to the provisions outlined in Article 46 of Ordinance No. 21-01, dated March 10, 2021, concerning the electoral law, as amended and supplemented.<\/p>\n
The directive is in alignment with Presidential Decree No. 26-145, dated April 4, 2026, which officially convoked the electorate for the election of members to the National People's Assembly on Thursday, July 2, 2026. This action also adheres to the stipulations of Article 82 of Ordinance No. 21-01, reinforcing the legal framework for the electoral system.<\/p>\n
