The message was delivered by the Vice-President of the Council of the Nation and head of the Algerian parliamentary delegation, Salah Reguig.

In his address, Nasri highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in resolving conflicts and building peace, particularly in the Middle East. He stressed the need to restore balance in favor of rights, enforce international laws and charters, and confront colonial narratives, especially in light of the situation in Gaza, the occupied Palestinian territories, Lebanon, and other occupied areas.

Nasri renewed Algeria’s position that achieving security and peace remains dependent on a fair settlement of the Palestinian cause, through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution. He called on Mediterranean and international parliamentary diplomacy to continue its efforts in this direction.

He also reaffirmed Algeria’s full support for Arab countries facing aggression, while strongly condemning any attack on the sovereignty of states, the integrity of their territories, and the safety of their citizens.

Nasri further noted that Algeria, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is moving toward a diversified economy based on digitalization, technology, renewable energies, and the positive use of artificial intelligence, relying in particular on the skills and potential of young people.

He emphasized that youth empowerment is supported by a constitutional foundation and a legislative framework that encourages their participation in political life and decision-making.

Nasri also referred to Algeria’s legislative elections, saying that the Algerian people chose their representatives in the People’s National Assembly freely, transparently, and fairly, under the supervision of the National Independent Authority for Elections.

He said the timing of these elections, ahead of the 64th anniversary of independence, carries deep historical symbolism. It reflects the sacrifices of the Algerian people, which led to an independent, stable, secure state, strong through its institutions, sovereign in its decisions, and open to partners for the prosperity of the Mediterranean region and a fairer international order.

The 19th session opened Saturday in Cairo under the theme: “Artificial Intelligence, Youth Involvement, and Parliamentary Diplomacy in the Service of Peace and Stability in the Middle East.”

President of the Council of the Nation, Azouz Nasri, affirmed that genuine democratic practice has become firmly rooted in Algeria, and that the rule of law and institutional governance have been strengthened within the framework of the commitments led by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
