Algeria\u2019s Council of the Nation President, Azouz Nasri, travelled to Qatar on Tuesday morning on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to offer Algeria\u2019s condolences following the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Amir of Qatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement issued by the Council of the Nation, Nasri will convey the condolences of the Algerian president, government and people to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, and to the Qatari royal family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visit reflects the close relations between Algeria and Qatar, as well as the spirit of solidarity that links the two countries and their peoples during moments of national mourning. It also highlights Algeria\u2019s commitment to maintaining high-level diplomatic engagement with Arab states and standing alongside them in difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nasri is accompanied by a senior Algerian delegation that includes Said Sayoud, Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, and Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The delegation also includes Professor Makhlouf Sahel, Chief of Staff to the President of the Council of the Nation, and Ihsane Naouak, Acting Director for the Mashreq Countries and the League of Arab States at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who was the father of Qatar\u2019s current emir, played a major role in the country\u2019s modern development and international presence. His passing prompted messages of sympathy and condolences from leaders and officials across the Arab and wider international community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this official mission, Algeria expressed its support for Qatar\u2019s leadership and people and reaffirmed the strong bonds of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect between the two nations during this period of grief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
