Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed on Thursday that Algeria is a reliable natural gas supplier to Europe, while highlighting Germany\u2019s growing interest in securing Algerian energy supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Tebboune said cooperation between Algeria and Germany now covers several areas of shared interest and reflects a significant transformation in bilateral economic relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor perhaps the first time, our German friends are discussing the supply of Algerian gas to Germany,\u201d the President said. He stressed that Algeria has consistently fulfilled its responsibilities as an energy supplier and remains committed to meeting its obligations toward European partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tebboune explained that his official visit was intended to strengthen economic, political and security cooperation with Germany. He also welcomed progress toward the launch of a new hydrogen corridor, which could later facilitate the transport of renewable energy resources, including electricity, from North Africa to Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President drew attention to the growing number of major projects being implemented in Algeria by German companies. He attributed this trend partly to investment reforms, including the introduction of a one-stop service designed to simplify administrative procedures for investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Tebboune, German companies have submitted investment proposals worth nearly $900 million through Algeria\u2019s one-stop investment platform. The projects reflect increasing interest in the Algerian market and its opportunities in energy, industry and advanced technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On security cooperation, Tebboune said the issue had been discussed in detail during his talks with German officials, adding that relations in this field were progressing positively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His remarks came as Sonatrach and German energy company VNG signed a new natural gas supply agreement in Berlin, further strengthening the two countries\u2019 energy partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
