The Algerian Football Federation is considering two possible approaches regarding the future of national team head coach Vladimir Petkovic, according to sources familiar with the ongoing technical review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The proposals were reportedly submitted after the National Technical College assessed the performance of the Algerian national team and the work carried out by Petkovic and his assistants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first option would allow the Swiss-Bosnian coach to remain in charge of the Desert Foxes while introducing changes to his technical staff. Under this proposal, new members would be appointed to strengthen the coaching team, provide additional expertise and help improve the national side\u2019s performances ahead of its next major competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Technical College reportedly favours retaining Petkovic while restructuring his staff and adding qualified Algerian coaches. However, no final decision has yet been announced by the federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second option would involve terminating Petkovic\u2019s contract should he reject changes to his technical team. Sources indicated that such a decision would only be taken after the FAF had secured an agreement with a suitable replacement possessing the experience and qualifications required to lead Algeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Any new coach would be expected to maintain the team\u2019s positive results and build a squad capable of competing strongly for continental titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final decision rests with the FAF Federal Bureau, which is expected to examine the technical, administrative and financial implications before determining the future of the national team\u2019s coaching structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Petkovic\u2019s contract and that of his technical staff were extended until July 31, 2028, shortly before the 2026 World Cup.
