Algerian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy Mourad Adjal held talks on Sunday with Dario Quissi, Director General of Argentina\u2019s INVAP, to discuss cooperation in the field of nuclear energy for medical applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting took place at the ministry\u2019s headquarters and focused on strengthening collaboration with INVAP, a company specializing in advanced nuclear technologies and the design and manufacture of equipment used primarily in medical nuclear applications and alternative energy sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the discussions, attended by senior officials from the energy sector, Adjal highlighted the strong relations between Algeria and Argentina in the fields of energy and renewable energy. He pointed to the successful partnership between INVAP and Algeria\u2019s Atomic Energy Commission, COMENA, which has extended over nearly 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy, the long-standing cooperation includes several infrastructure projects related to the peaceful and medical use of nuclear energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Particular attention was given to the project to build a facility in Draria, Algiers, dedicated to the production of radioactive isotopes. These isotopes are widely used as tracers in medical imaging and in radiotherapy procedures designed to target cancer cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adjal called for accelerating the pace of construction, strictly respecting the project\u2019s completion schedule, and establishing regular monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Algerian minister also expressed interest in expanding cooperation between COMENA and INVAP by benefiting from Argentina\u2019s expertise in radioactive isotope production, with the long-term objective of developing and localizing this technology in Algeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
