Senior Algerian government officials held a high-level coordination meeting on Tuesday to review the progress of the country\u2019s major strategic mining projects, with particular emphasis on the Gara Djebilet iron ore project and the Integrated Phosphate Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was chaired by Miloud Medjelled, Secretary General of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, alongside the secretaries general of the Ministries of Interior, Transport, Mines and Mining Industries, and Water Resources. Representatives of the relevant national institutions and public agencies also attended the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, the meeting was held in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to accelerate the implementation of strategic mining projects and strengthen Algeria\u2019s industrial sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants reviewed the progress of essential supporting infrastructure required for mining operations and industrial production. Discussions focused on securing adequate water supplies for processing facilities, expanding railway and logistics capacity, and ensuring the efficient transportation of mineral resources between extraction sites, processing plants, industrial complexes, and export ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting also assessed measures to support the primary processing plant at the Gara Djebilet iron ore mine and the iron concentrate production project in Toumiat, B\u00e9char Province. Progress was likewise reviewed on phosphate processing, transformation, and value-added facilities in Bled El Hadba, T\u00e9bessa Province, and Oued El Kebrit, Souk Ahras Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials stressed the need to increase water supply capacities in line with the gradual commissioning of these industrial facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants also examined mining transport projects designed to boost the movement of iron ore and phosphate as new railway lines become operational and production volumes increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participating ministries agreed to establish a regular monitoring mechanism at the level of their secretaries general to track project implementation, strengthen intersectoral coordination, resolve technical and administrative challenges promptly, and ensure that all strategic mining projects are completed according to schedule, contributing to economic diversification and sustainable industrial growth in Algeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
