The Moroccan Democratic Human Rights Association has issued a strongly worded statement condemning the worsening conditions facing young people in Morocco, following a surge in irregular migration attempts toward the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organization said images of children and minors risking dangerous sea crossings should not be treated as isolated incidents. Instead, it described them as evidence of a deeper social and political crisis caused by marginalization, unemployment, rising living costs, and the loss of hope among large sections of the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rights group placed full political and historical responsibility on the Moroccan authorities, arguing that years of unequal public policies had widened social disparities and deprived many young people of opportunities for a dignified life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also criticized the authorities\u2019 reliance on security measures to address economic and social problems, saying such an approach had failed to provide genuine development solutions. According to the statement, there is a growing gap between official reform narratives and the daily reality experienced by poorer citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association further denounced practices it described as degrading toward vulnerable groups, including street vendors and low-income communities. It said the absence of accountability had weakened public trust in state institutions, the judiciary, and political life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organization warned that continued failure to address the root causes of the crisis could lead to serious social unrest. It described irregular migration as a symptom of broader problems, particularly the lack of social justice and the shortcomings of the country\u2019s development model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among its demands, the group called for an end to abusive practices against vulnerable citizens, the opening of a genuine national debate on social policy, and stronger political and administrative accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also urged the government to adopt urgent measures capable of restoring young people\u2019s confidence in their future at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
