Algeria\u2019s Prime Minister, Seifi Ghrieb, acting on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, officially inaugurated on Wednesday in Algiers a new factory dedicated to the production of brake pads and related components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony took place in the Rouiba industrial zone, in the presence of a ministerial delegation that included the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Sa\u00efd Sayoud, the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, and the Minister of Finance, Abdelkrim Bouzred, alongside several officials and economic stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This project reflects the government\u2019s commitment to repurposing assets recovered from corruption cases and reintegrating them into the national economy as productive investments. The initiative aims to generate added value, create jobs, and strengthen domestic industrial capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The factory, operated by Maintenance Company of the East\u2014a subsidiary of the GICA Group\u2014specializes in the production of brake pads for both light and heavy vehicles, in line with recognized technical standards. It has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million units, covering 153 models, including 126 for light vehicles and 27 for heavy-duty transport, in addition to components for tractors and other equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The facility is expected to meet between 30% and 40% of national demand, while also reducing import dependency and opening prospects for export markets. The project will create more than 150 jobs, including 60 direct positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Designed with energy efficiency in mind, the plant operates through an integrated production chain, from raw material preparation to mechanical and thermal processing, surface treatment, and final finishing and packaging. This ensures the production of high-quality brake pads that comply with industry standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
