Algeria\u2019s Ombudsman, Mohamed Hattab, chaired a coordination meeting on Sunday to review the institution\u2019s work program and examine several projects aimed at improving its performance and the quality of services provided to citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the key projects discussed was the launch of a pilot virtual citizen reception service, scheduled to begin in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from the institution, the initiative is part of its ongoing digital transformation strategy and is designed to bring public services closer to citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new system will allow citizens to submit and discuss petitions through video communication, with particular attention given to people living in remote areas and persons with special needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The service is expected to reduce the need for citizens to travel, ease pressure on local delegations and accelerate the handling of petitions. A standardized framework will also be introduced to ensure consistent procedures, service quality and protection of personal data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting also examined the methodology for preparing the institution\u2019s annual activity report, particularly the section dealing with the processing of citizens\u2019 petitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hattab stressed that the annual report should serve as a genuine tool for evaluation and decision-making rather than simply compiling statistical data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called for a modern analytical approach based on interpreting indicators and linking them to realities on the ground. Such an approach would help identify shortcomings, determine the underlying causes of recurring public concerns, assess how effectively government departments respond and develop recommendations to improve public services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ombudsman emphasized the need to promote a culture focused on performance and measurable results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the institution should move beyond simply managing individual cases toward creating a broader and lasting impact through digitalization, strategic data analysis and continuous evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
